What is in the Ultimate Sports Turf blend?

Ultimate Sports Turf is a proprietary blend of premium Kentucky bluegrass cultivars, selected from the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) and refined through years of our own field trials in Ontario conditions. The specific cultivar list is proprietary and is not published - it is the result of decades of breeding work and is what makes the product perform the way it does. The published data sheet covers product description, performance benefits, maintenance height, ideal applications and available roll sizes. For deeper technical questions, fertility, root zone or installation planning, our turf specialists team is available by phone.

What root zone does Ultimate Sports Turf require?

It performs on a range of root zones, from native loam to fully engineered sand-based systems (USGA spec, modified). For stadium-grade and high-use sports fields we recommend pairing Ultimate Sports Turf with our Engineered Sand Field System for drainage and traffic tolerance. We can spec the entire profile, not just the cap.

How long is the lead time on an Ultimate Sports Turf order?

For the majority of sports field projects - municipal parks, school boards, club fields and athletic facilities - Greenhorizons has Ultimate Sports Turf available throughout the growing season. Standard orders ship in days, not months, and timing depends on order volume and season.

For elite stadium-grade installations (BMO Field, Rogers Centre, the Nottawasaga basecamp) the sod is custom-grown to specification, which typically requires a 24-month lead time so the cultivar blend can develop the dense, knit-tight surface a pro pitch demands. If your project sits at this end of the spectrum, call us early in the planning cycle so we can lock in a reservation.

Can Greenhorizons handle the install, or only supply?

Both. We offer turnkey installation through our Sports Pitch System and ProXstablishment service - including site prep, root zone construction, sod laying and post-install agronomic guidance. We can also supply only, if your contractor will handle install.

Where can I see Ultimate Sports Turf in person?

We grow Ultimate Sports Turf at our specialty turf farm in Burford, Ontario. Call our commercial line and we will coordinate a farm tour or a visit to one of our installed sites.
